Ignition - A strong start for your 2CV

The standard 2CV ignition system is renowned for high wear to the contacts as well as for being too imprecise and affected by the weather, especially on cars with performance enhanced engines.  This situation can be remedied by simply changing the ignition system.

Electronic ignition
We now have a new ignition system for the 2CV in our range.  It was developed in 2001 by a specialist firm that only manufacturers ignition system components.  The system is controlled by a Hall generator and is therefore not subject to any wear at all.  It also does away with those imprecise spark advance weights that become so easily worn.  The system itself looks after the complete pre-ignition adjustment process! And it can do still more! It’s temperature controlled, so for cold starts the system cancels the ignition, thus enabling a better start-up.  This also makes it impossible to over-rev the engine if it’s cold.

If the engine fails to start, the system switches off the ignition coil after approx. 30 seconds, thus stopping the coil from overheating.  The complete system is housed in a rugged aluminium case and is fitted in place of the original contact housing. After it’s installed, you won’t notice any difference to the vehicle, as no extra parts have been added to the engine compartment.

The system raises the ignition voltage, resulting in greater rotary power for the engine.

Fuel consumption is slightly reduced!
 
All of the system’s electronic components have proved themselves thousand of times over in BMW and Harley Davidson motorbikes.  But if you really don’t fully trust electronics, you can always simply switch back to contacts!

However, the best thing about the system is that it’s absolutely free of wear and tear, extremely easy to fit and that your 2CV will always start, come wind, rain or snow!

The original distributor cam is unfortunately no longer available.  If this has become badly worn in your car, the only sensible option left is to convert to our electronic ignition system!
