The 3D-Secure procedure increases security when paying by credit card on the Internet.
With this procedure, you as a customer additionally confirm electronic payments with a password, a TAN or a fingerprint.´This means that criminals can no longer go shopping on the Internet with stolen credit card data such as number and security digits alone.
Visa and Mastercard offer the 3D Secure procedure under the names Verified by Visa Identiy Check or MasterCard Identiy Check (formerly Securecode).
Due to a new EU directive, this will change for everyone. In future, customers will have to identify themselves twice for all electronic payments.
