2CV - Stainless steel brakes lines

Even the brake lines for your 2CV can be supplied in stainless steel!  And if you’re changing the chassis, that’s naturally a good opportunity to change the brake lines as well!

We have complete stainless steel brake line sets in our product range for 2CVs as of 1981 (front disc brakes) and 2CVs with dual-circuit brake systems and drum brakes at the front.  These are manufactured by one of Citroen’s former direct suppliers and we’re the exclusive importers for Germany. The cables are extremely well made and completely pre-bent.  They are supplied with all necessary brackets and seals.

We sell around 350-400 sets a year and cannot recommend them highly enough.  Especially in the course of restoration work or changing the chassis, you would be well advised to change the brake lines.  Later on, it’s not so easy to get at them.

We also, naturally, offer brake lines on their own as well.

Rear brake pads only wear away a little.  However, they tend to glaze over (i.e. become hard) and are then unable to achieve the necessary braking performance any more.  Therefore, you should change them every 5-8 years, even if they’re not worn out.  You should also take this opportunity to change all of the springs and clamps, which we supply as part no. 13072.

The metal clamps on the brake pads have a specific pretension, which wanes over the years.  The brakes can’t then be relied upon to work perfectly any more!

By the way, in order to take out the brake drum, you need to loosen the rear grease cap and take off the 44mm nut.  This should be replaced by a new one, as it is gets wedged against the wheel hub. The big nut with the 2 grooves just holds the wheel bearing in place and doesn’t need to be removed to pull off the brake drum.
