Citroën AMI6 + AMI8 Engine and Transmission Mounts

The engine and transmission mounts on the AMI serve to prevent vibrations generated by the engine from being transmitted to the vehicle. If the engine were mounted without the appropriate rubber mounts, vibrations would occur throughout the vehicle, impairing drivability or even making it impossible to drive.

Why replace the engine mounts?

The rubber mounts undergo a natural aging process, causing them to become very soft or even tear. As a result, vibrations can no longer be adequately absorbed.

Troubleshooting

If the engine emits a loud humming noise or knocking sounds occur when suddenly accelerating or decelerating, the engine mounts and transmission mounts are usually defective. Therefore, it is recommended to inspect the engine mounts if suspicious noises are heard. Replacing these parts often resolves the issue.
