Comparison of Citroën Ami 6 and Ami 8 Wheel Bearings
Both the Ami 6 and the Ami 8 use larger and more robust wheel bearings than the standard 2CV sedan. This is due to the higher curb weight and greater payload capacity of these vehicles.
Similarities between the Ami 6 and Ami 8
- Identical bearings front and rear: As with the 2CV, the bearings on the front and rear axles of the Ami 6 and Ami 8 are identical in construction.
- Specifications: The same reinforced bearings are used as in the 2CV AK350 and AK400 vans and the Acadiane.
- Dimensions: The standard dimension for the Ami 6 and Ami 8 is 36 x 76 x 29 mm.
Differences and special features of the Citroën Ami wheel bearings
- Ami Super: The Ami Super, equipped with the GS’s 4-cylinder engine, has different wheel bearings on the front axle, as the brake system and steering knuckles were partially carried over from the Citroën GS.
- Ring nut: Due to the larger outer diameter of the bearing (76 mm for the Ami 6 and Ami 8), the ring nut is also larger than on the standard 2CV.
- Oil seals: Despite the larger bearings, the same oil seals in 45 x 62 x 8 mm are used, as they seal against the hub and the diameter of the sealing surface has remained identical.
